Top Alternative Cake Makers in the North West: A Guide for Your Wedding

So, your planning your wedding, if you are anything like me, little miss sweetest tooth in the North West, one of your first thoughts are where am I buying my cake. Am I right? Well, at the very least it is up there in your list of priorities. So I have brought to you a wonderful list of some of the absolute best cake makers that are not only local to you but also offer cakes for the more alternative market, Enjoy, and if you guys have any suggestions on places we should have definitely covered in this list then feel free to shout your suggestions in any place we will see them :)

Ran by Kate an award winning cake designer living in the North West, her cakes are the epitome of 'for everyone' her skills are insane and I just adore the different types of cakes she delivers for her couples, each one so obviously a refection of her couples.

Ran by multi-award winning cake artist Suzanne Thorp, Union Cakes make modern and affordable cakes from the heart of Manchester. You may even recognise Suzanne from Extreme Cake Makers where she is frequently making appearances! Such clean and perfect cakes, modern with an edge when needed.

I don't even know where to start with these guys, absolutely insane! I adore literally everything they bake and would order a cake a day if I could. A micro bakery again ran from the heart of Manchester, with talent coming out of every pore, there designs are so incredibly on trend even more so for an alternative audience.

A newer addition to the cake world but by no means lesser, the talent coming out of their finger tips is that of somebody who has been doing it for 20+ years! Absolutely incredible cakes with and the amount of darker themed cakes they have done goes a long way for me personally in feeling like this brand will be not just accepting of any weird and wonderful cakes I might want to order but will enjoy every moment of the process themselves.

Honourable mention!!

Obviously not a cake, I can see that don't worry. But the cake knife is so often forgotten until the last moment or the choices available are slim to none and about as exciting as brushing your teeth in the morning. My suggestion, take a daytrip for you and your partner and forge your own cake knife for your special day. Choose your blade, choose your handle and have something that you can be proud of forever and make something often overlooked even more special to you and your family.
