Beyond the Photoshoot: Supporting Gender Affirmation Journeys

I launched my free gender affirming photoshoots because I wanted to do something to, not just give back to the trans community for everything they have done and continue to do for the LGBTQIA+ community, but also to show my support and give a good day to a people who are currently experiencing some of the worst from people.

But gender affirmation is by no means a single moment...

it is a whole journey. A journey that can involve new clothes, makeup, hormones, legal name changes, voice training, surgeries, moving to a safer environment, and countless other steps that help to live authentically.

I can capture a moment in their journey and showing them in their true beauty is something I am so excited about but I can't help but feel like I can do more, like we all can.

I'm exploring a new project that would follow selected participants beyond the photoshoot itself. With their full consent and involvement, I would document parts of their journey through behind-the-scenes videos, interviews, milestone moments, shopping trips, and personal updates. These videos would allow viewers to connect with real people, hear their stories, and witness the positive impact that gender affirmation can have.

ALL revenue generated through these videos, along with optional community donations, would go directly towards helping that participant with their gender affirmation goals.

That support could include:

• Gender affirming clothing and makeup

• Travel costs to appointments

• Legal documentation changes

• Hormone treatment expenses

• Voice coaching or training

• Surgery-related costs

• Relocation or housing support

• Other affirmation-related needs identified by the participant

I want to so clear when I say, my aim is not to make reality television, I want to create visibility, understanding and actual support for these individuals.

Participants would remain in control throughout the process. They would decide what parts of their story they are comfortable sharing, what information remains private, and how their journey is documented.

This is very much a pilot project. I'm learning as I go, and the first journeys documented will help shape what this becomes in the future. My hope is that this could grow into something that can support so many more people over time.

For many people, being seen is powerful.

Being supported can be life-changing.
This project hopes to do both.

If this sounds like something that could help you, or someone you know, please get in touch. Even if you're not personally interested in taking part, sharing this project with friends, family, LGBTQ+ groups, community organisations, and online communities could help it reach the people who need it most.

Right now, awareness is just as valuable as funding. The more people who know this exists, the greater the chance of finding participants, supporters, and building something meaningful together.

Please share far and wide. Let's see where this first chapter leads.
